Mount Shasta Herald, 10 Aug 2011 - Siskiyou County Sheriff Jon Lopey announced that the 72,000 marijuana plants recently discovered and destroyed in Siskiyou County were the work of members of Mexican drug cartels. It's estimated that in the last five years, nearly 40,000 people have been killed in Mexico as a result of the drug wars.
